Could not be explained much easier!

I go USMC OSC Air in a few short months, and this book has all the info i need to be prepared for my potential helo training. Very clearly expressed theories and explanations on just about everything. I love how to the book enforces theory FIRST and goes into actual helicopter flight AFTER. Fantastic read.

To be honest, read it slow because the concepts are difficult for some to understand. It took me a few hours to fully grasp a few things, but I highly recommend to understand in totality the concepts. It will greater your understanding of the rest of the book!

Clear and comprehensive

I fly radio controlled helicopters and wanted to understand the principles of flight plus some flight characteristics that baffled me. The combination of clear explanations of flight behavior and excellent graphics make this book an excellent choice. The physics that underlie the performance of a helicopter are covered in just the right level of detail. The reaction to various control inputs and the various mechanisms that provide those inputs are thoroughly explained and are accompanied by excellent drawings and graphs. No matter what size of helicopter you fly, this book will help you understand why a helicopter performs as it does.

Not a good first book

This is a good book for anyone wanting to become familiar with the in depth "nuts and bolts" of helicopter flight. It may be a little too complex for someone who is just tiring to learn the basics of how a helicopter flies. The book tends to assume that some of the scientific principles are generally understood by all readers. In my opinion, not a good first book.

About the Author
Ingeman Arbnor (1949) is a Swedish economist, Professor at the Lund University, Lund, known for his international bestseller "Methodology for Creating Business Knowledge" written with Bj�rn Bjerke. Ingeman Arbnor was born in Sweden in 1949, and studied Economics at the Lund University. A few years, later Arbnor was appointed to his first professorial position at the Lund University. Bj�rn Bjerke supervised the final phase of Arbnor’s doctoral work and a deep professional relation developed, resulting in their becoming coauthors. It is out of this relationship that "Methodology for Creating Business Knowledge" was born and developed. His dissertation containing what is now considered classic methodological reorientations.[1] Arbnor further worked as an entrepreneur in the field of establishing a running business training and development centers in cooperation with multinational corporations in Sweden. Among other business accomplishments, he has started a trading house, a Venture Competence Invest, and an academy for venture management education.[1] Since the 1990s, he has been a member of the expert group to the Swedish Association of Graduates in Business Administration and Economics.

Bj�rn Bjerke was born in Sweden and got educated to PhD level at Lund University.

His research, lecturing and business consulting experience spans four decades and as many continents. Bj�rn has held professorships at the Waikato University in New Zealand, the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, University of Maiduguri in Nigeria, the University of Southern California and a Senior Fellowship at the National University of Singapore in Singapore.

Back in Sweden Bjerke worked for a while at the Malm� University College before going to Stockholm. At Stockholm University Bjerke has led a research group in entrepreneurship consisting of 15 junior researchers.[1] Since 2007 he is working at the Baltic Business School at the Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden.

An excellent book on methodology

I am happy that the third edition of this excellent book is out. This new edition contains several new cases, new and excellent figures, an appendix (which in itself is a good summary of theories of science of relevance here), a glossary, a list of suggested further readings, and furthermore the book has got it's own website for business knowledge. I will be happy to use the book in my progress as knowledge creator.

There are better alternatives

This was a required textbook for a course that I recentely took. The context is very abstract and difficult to understand. It's about high-level abstraction of three knowledge-creation methodologies: actor, system, and analytic approach. Most students were lost in its content including myself. Even the school is considering using another one in the future. Save your money if you are trying to learn how to do research. You'll have better luck on research methods by going with books written by Cooper and Schindler, Robson, or Crewell.

About the Author
M. H. Abrams is a distinguished scholar who has written prize-winning books on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature, literary criticism, and European Romanticism. He also is General Editor for THE NORTON ANTHOLOGY OF ENGLISH LITERATURE. In addition, M. H. Abrams has been the recipient of Guggenheim, Ford Foundation, and Rockefeller Postwar fellowships and the Award for Literature by the American Academy of Arts and Letters (1990).

Geoffrey Galt Harpham is the director of the National Humanities Center. The recipient of fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Guggenheim Foundation, he has written extensively in the fields of literary criticism, critical theory, and intellectual history. Among his many books are ON THE GROTESQUE, ONE OF US: THE MASTERY OF JOSEPH CONRAD and THE HUMANITIES AND THE DREAM OF AMERICA.

The many theories theory

Two thumbs up (in superpostion)! By far the best overview of Quantum theory that I've read thus far (out of 10 books). The author doesn't pick and choose from the competing interpretations of QT to advance an agenda, (philosophical, social, political, or scientific). QT development is presented in its historical context with all the resistance that accompanies new theories. Alternatives to the orthodox Copenhagen interpretation are fairly presented. All the mathematics are thankfully placed in appendices at the end of the book. Still, some of the text explaining experimental setup and reasoning was too technical for me, but I grasped the gist of the "interpretation." The meaning of QT is still being debated. The many interpretations articulated in the many theories designed to explain microphysics phenomena essentially boil down to 2 competing metaphysical postions: the "anti-realist" Copenhagen interpretation (Heisenberg, Bohr, Pauli) and the "realist" hidden variables interpretation (Einstein, Schrodinger, Bohm, etc.). This is obviously an oversimplification, but I can confidently now state that I understand that I don't understand Quantum Theory.

Well written, and makes the math clear.

Jim Baggott has done a great job of going through non-relativistic, with a smattering of relativistic, quantum mechanics. In the book's appendices there are clear, and concise mathematical explanations of the basic framework of quantum mechanics that anyone, with a working knowledge of algebra, should have no problems with. The book doesn't just deal with the physics of quantum mechanics, but also touches on the philosophical interpretations of what it may mean. It does all of this in an accessible way, without getting over-technical, and without getting airy fairy. This book always remains grounded in science, and I would recommend it to any lay person interested in learning more about quantum mechanics, and especially to college students taking courses in quantum mechanics. And for that matter, I think post-graduates will find this book an interesting, and rewarding read too.

Ethno-Architecture and the Politics of Migration explores the interface between migration and architecture. Cities have been substantially affected by transnational migration but the physical manifestations of migration in architecture – and its effect on streetscape, neighbourhood and city – have so far been understudied.

This contributed volume examines how migrants interact with, adapt, and construct new architecture. Looking at the physical, urban and cultural impact of these changes on a variety of sites, the authors explore architecture as an identity category and investigate what buildings and places associated with migration tell us about central questions of belonging, culture, community, and home in regions such as North America, Australia and the UK.
